  • Stop Work Authority
We utilize stop work authority due to safety and environmental concerns. Our company intends that all persons in a work area are empowered and expected to STOP the work of Bordelon Marine if any employees’, subcontractors ‘/vendors’, visitors’, or the environment’s safety are at risk. NO repercussions will result from these actions. Any safety or compliance issue that arises should urgently bring to a Bordelon Marine Supervisor or HSES Representative. If a person is discouraged from exercising their “Stop Work Authority” or penalized for doing so, it is to be made known to Bordelon Marine HSES management at 985-601-4660. Senior Level Management of Bordelon Marine expects each employee to exercise Stop Work Authority any time operations could result in injury, property damage, or harm to the environment. Our company stands by each employees’ decision and expects their concerns addressed by their supervisor and management. Until appropriate safety precautions are in place, any operation that poses an un-controllable risk must cease.
  • Behavior-Based
The purpose of this program is to protect employees and other workers from harm by providing authority to such in aiding in observation of safe and unsafe work practices/behaviors alike and, when necessary, to intervene if they recognize a dicey condition or act. Employees are continually encouraged to intervene whenever they notice hazardous conditions or actions. This approach to accident prevention requires each employee to understand that they have both the right and an obligation to safely stop a job whenever they observe a potentially hazardous condition or someone in the process of performing an unsafe act.
  • Zero Tolerance
Bordelon Marine adopted a zero-tolerance policy that implements through several policies and procedures. Infractions can result in immediate suspension pending upon the investigation of the personnel who violate any policy procedure and/or hazard control system. Meaning if the infraction results in an actual or potential severely high injury, asset damage, environmental spill, and/or damage to the company’s reputation, the investigation team may recommend termination of employment if the personnel found made a willful and knowing violation of company policy and procedure.
