I LEAD
Health and Safety

Our company is committed to providing a safe, secure, and healthy work environment for all of our employees and customers. The health, safety and security of people and the environment are within the utmost consideration of any operation conducted by Bordelon Marine.

Environment

Bordelon Marine is committed to ensuring all operations are carried out with due regard for health, safety and security of our employees, contractors, and the public. The company guarantees safety at sea, prevention of human injury or loss of life, and avoidance of damage to property and the environment. Furthermore, Bordelon Marine will conduct its operations to utilize management systems to assure excellence in marine transportation and offshore support services.

Safety is a fundamental building block in creating a high performing, sustainable work environment. When people are not worried about injury, they are more enabled to then think about other aspects of their jobs such as improving quality or performance. Bordelon Marine is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for all employees and customers. These programs are implemented to assist in keeping a safe environment and play a substantial role for our No Loss Time company wide mantra.

Safety Accountability

This program implements itself as an assessment tool and is based on proper implementation of/and maintaining a safe work environment, beginning with adhering to our company's safety policies and procedures.

Stop Work Authority

We utilize stop work authority due to safety and environmental concerns.

It is our company’s intent that all persons in a work area are empowered and expected to STOP the work of Bordelon Marine, if any employees', subcontractors'/vendors', visitors', or the environment's safety are at risk. NO repercussions will result from these actions.

Any safety or compliance issue that arises should immediately be brought to the attention of the Bordelon Marine supervisor or HSES Representative.

If a person is discouraged from exercising their “Stop Work Authority” or penalized for doing so, it should be reported to Bordelon Marine HSES management at 985-601-4660

Senior Level Management of Bordelon Marine expects each employee to exercise Stop Work Authority any time operations could result in injury, property damage or harm to the environment. Our company stands by each employee’s decision and expect that their concerns are fully addressed by their supervisor and management. Until appropriate safety precautions are in place, any operation that poses an un-controllable risk must cease.

Behavior Based

The purpose of this program is to protect employees and other workers from harm by providing the authority to all employees to observe safe and unsafe work practices/behaviors. Furthermore, when necessary, to intervene if they recognize an unsafe condition or act. Employees are continually encouraged to intervene whenever they notice an unsafe condition or person's action.

This approach to accident prevention requires each employee to understand that they have both the right and an obligation to safely stop a job whenever they observe a potentially hazardous condition or someone in the process of performing an unsafe act.

Zero Tolerance

Bordelon Marine has adopted a zero tolerance policy that is implemented within several policies and procedures.

Infractions can result in immediate suspension pending upon the investigation of the personnel who violate any policy procedure and/or hazard control system. Meaning if the infraction results in an actual or potential severely high injury, asset damage, environmental spill, and/or damage to the company’s reputation, the investigation team may recommend termination of employment. For personnel found made a willful and knowing violation of company policy and procedure.

Bordelon Marine ensures to provide all employees with these necessary tools to stay safe on any and every job.
